Stobhill Hospital Ward Extension

In addressing the daylight for New Stobhill Hospital’s Ward Extension, side windows are used frequently.
More windows are open towards to courtyards where can provide nice views for interior people.

Side windows are mostly used in traffic space to highlight the inside ways.
Using timber to create friendly entrance for patience, the warm color of timber and sunshine can build a kindhearted impression.

Externally the most striking feature of the design is perhaps the window bays introduced to the single bed rooms. These provide strong modeling to the facades, giving a meaningful contrast to the main hospital building by means of a clear expression of the different function of the space.
Day and Dining Rooms are separated from the circulation and each other only by a timber screen. The screen not only gives a sense of privacy, but allows casual observation from the staff base nearby.

Different functions need different way of accepting daylight, because public space and private space need different kinds of daylight, which should be applied in my project.
