Bird's Nest - Technologies Developed in Architecture
Chinese National Stadium (Bird's Nest) is located in the south of the central area of Beijing Olympic Park in China, the main stadium for the 2008 Beijing olympics. The total project covers an area of 21 hectares, the audience seating for 91000. The whole structure of the stadium components supporting each other, forming grid architecture, bird's nest appearance will look like woven branches, the gray mineral like steel nets to transparent film material covering, which contains a red soil Bowl Stadium. Here, the markings on the techniques of Chinese traditional culture in the hollowed out, ceramics, red bright and warm, with the most advanced modern steel structure design perfectly blending together.
The entire building was linked to a massive mesh structure through the Disney, without a single column, and the stands were a complete bowl shaped like a huge container, with incredible dramatic and unparalleled power.
This building teaches me the knowledge about high technology and the method of design fabric. Actually, the image in my mind can be achieved eventually, so I just need to consider my project and don't need to worry too much about structure.
